Living ROI Transcript: Workshop 5 – Be Your Best Self

Welcome back to the Living ROI Workshop Series. In this session, I’m going to talk about you being the best version of yourself. So, get your journal and let’s get started – your life is waiting!

Why do we pursue personal development? This is a really important question, and one that has inspired me. In particular, The late Jim Rohn wrote many books on personal and professional development in the 1970s, 80’s and 90’s. I love his quote “success is something you attract by the person you become.” Jim had a mentor who told him he should strive for big goals in his life, not for what it will bring him, but for what it will make of him as a person.

I love that, and I keep that philosophy front and center as I pursue my own development. What do I want to make of myself? How do I want to get better as a human being? The “My Reflections” section is all about this.

Reflect on a few key questions – who do I need to become to achieve the goals I’ve set? What are the traits of people I admire? What do I want to be more of? From these you can identify a few key traits that you want to build in yourself. We’ve put several examples in the book to inspire you, and you may identify others.

Once you’ve identified those traits, jot down some of the actions that would help you strengthen them.

Don’t try to do too much too quickly. Just focus on two or three that are really important to you, and incorporate them into your habits, which we will talk about next.

Again, this is an opportunity for you to grow personally into more of the person you want to be.

The My Habits section is where the rubber meets the road on a daily basis. Our habits – purposeful or not – are the foundation of the life that we live day to day.

So, what are the habits that will support your soulful life? What are those daily and weekly actions that will take you one step at a time towards your vision and your goals.

Living ROI is really about defining your best life, and consistently moving towards it. At the center of Living ROI is a weekly practice. A habit, of reflecting and planning, that moves you forward each week.

Think of your habits as the rhythm of your life. What would be an ideal morning routine? How do you want to finish your day? What activities really light you up throughout the day?

Reflect on your goals and desired traits and come up with the habits that will support you on a daily and weekly basis.

(Testimonial from Jo)

Working on my habits was eye opening because sometimes you are working on something that is so far in the future, but it’s really your daily habits that get you there. If you can play out what makes you most successful in your day to day life, your habits that get you there, then that’s what leads to you getting your priorities done.

Now that you’ve built a foundation of goals and habits, the next workshop will help you jump into the core of Living ROI – your weekly practice.

Don’t miss this next workshop, it’s the heart of Living ROI, and our last workshop in the series. See you there!
