I created Living ROI as a passion, to share my experiences and support others who want to live more authentic, joyful and fulfilling lives.

Dear Friends,

If someone told you that by doing a particular activity you could:

  • Boost your energy
  • Make exercise feel easier
  • Support your vision
  • Help mitigate pain
  • Boost your immune system
  • Help you feel calmer and more relaxed
  • Enhance your creativity
  • Lessen seasonal affective disorder
  • Increase your vitamin D
  • Restore your focus
  • Help you remember what is important in life

…would you be interested? Those are the benefits that scientific studies have found occur when we spend time outside.

I consider myself an outdoors person, but, in truth, I spend much more time inside than I’d care to admit.

Colin, my husband, and me walking in a snowstorm.  It was cold but felt great to get outisde!

Every time I go camping, I am reminded of how wonderful it feels to spend so much time outdoors. Yet my life seems to draw me inside more and more.

How many days have I gone from my home to my car to my office and back again without as much as a walk around the block? Too many to count.

Now that I’m spending more time in the mountains, I’m determined to get outdoors for at least an hour a day, if not much more. Even during a snowstorm.

Do you also want to get outdoors more often? How can you make that happen?

Wishing you the beautiful benefits of time outside,

P.S. Have you heard of forest bathing? In Japan it is known as shinrin-yoku which means “taking in the forest.” It’s a specific practice of getting outside to reduce stress and connect with nature. You can learn more about it here.
