I created Living ROI as a passion, to share my experiences and support others who want to live more authentic, joyful and fulfilling lives.

Dear Friends,

Do you know anyone who complains about life not working out for them? Are they happy? Not likely! And by contrast, you may know someone for whom life seems to always be going well. Maybe you’re one of them! If you are, others may have said to you, “You’re so lucky!,” but in truth, “luck” is hard-earned.

The Popular Science article on The Science of Luck summarizes several studies that have found that “luck” has more to do with psychology than probability; “luck” is connected to having a positive attitude that keeps you open to new opportunities or perceiving patterns.

Richard Branson, who has often been accused of being “lucky,” sees it this way: “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”

You might be thinking, “easier said than done.”  Some of us have a lot of challenges or have been dealing with hard times. Stefan James of Project Life Mastery shares Nine Strategies for Overcoming Adversity:

  1.  Believe in Yourself
  2. Drop Negative Self-Talk
  3. Practice Self-Compassion
  4. Change Your Response
  5. Take Responsibility for Your Life
  6. Ask for Help
  7. Find the Silver Lining
  8. Create a Game Plan
  9. Adopt an Attitude of Gratitude

When you show up to life with a positive attitude and integrity, it’s amazing how lucky you can get! Even in the face of adversity. You will see that the world shows up as you are. Give it a try!

Wishing you all the luck in the world!
