Living ROI Transcript: Workshop 2 – Create your vision
Welcome back to the Living ROI Workshop Series. Today’s workshop is focused on helping you create your unique vision for a soulful life. So grab your journal, a cup of tea or coffee, get comfortable and let’s get started – your life is waiting.
There is a famous passage from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland that perfectly sets the tone for this workshop. “One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. ‘Which road do I take?” She asked. His response was a question: ’Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know.” Alice answered. ‘Then’ said the cat, ‘it doesn’t matter.”
Before we can get from where we are today to where we want to be, we need to have a very clear picture of what our ideal future state looks like. The power of this work is to guide you as you decide where you want to go on this journey of soulful living. This is your unique vision.
Now, imagine it’s five years from now. I really want you to put yourself there. How old are you? How old are the people around you? What significant passages have happened? For example, graduations or anniversaries.
With that in mind write down how you want your life to be – ideally- in five years – using the topics to guide you. Work on striking a balance between being grounded in reality, what is really possible, but also dreaming and stretching to your greatest aspirations. You can pause the video here and take time to write – or take the time afterwards – whichever you prefer.
We can accomplish much more than we think we can in five years, so paint the picture you really want. You may not know today how you’re going to get there, and that’s okay. And once you have that clear picture, you’re that much closer.
Now – it’s time to understand how far your vision is from where you are today.
For each topic area that you’ve completed, estimate on a scale of 1 to 10 how close you already are to your vision. One means you’re very far away today from where you want to be, and 10 means your vision is already a reality.
Once you’ve done that, you can shade in the area that represents the gap. This area is the opportunity you’re going to realize over the next weeks, months and years. It represents all that needs to be done to make your vision a reality.
The next workshop helps you define your goals for the year. Now it’s getting real. This is the journey to YOUR best life – Realize, Own and Ignite it TODAY!
